Food For The Gods - Black & White Wednesday

Last Thursday, it was Vinayaka Chavithi (Ganesh Chaturthi). Every year, we celebrate it at a relative's place and they lay out quite a feast that comprises everything this beloved God loves. It is first offered to him and then we take over after the puja is over.



Clockwise from far back: The Spouse serves himself some pulihora (tamarind rice); there is sago payasam in the round, metal pot; in front of that are chickpeas, tempered with mustard and curry leaves; to their left are gaarelu/vadas and kudumulu (modaks) that are supposed to be Vinayaka's favourites and behind them, the poornalu - fried sweet dumplings that have a core of chana dal and jaggery inside them.

This is going to Susan's B&W Wednesday.

    You captured the mood of the festival just right :) Festivals and pujas are as much about the food as about the prayers, dont you think??

    we had all these goodies last week too. My daughter kept asking..every few seconds.. "amma, do you think God has finished eating, so I can start having some?" :)

    Nice prasad and an interesting click. The angle is so that i am tempted to crane the nect a bit then I could look into the round pot for payasam:)
